Whether it’s warm and sunny or cold and overcast, outdoor grilling is one of the most efficient and enjoyable forms of cooking. There are many types of wood and charcoal grills on the market, which can range from your typical backyard grill that may be bought at the grocery store up to a professional grill that can last many years and is capable of grilling up to 100 or more pounds of meat. Most wood grills are capable of handling about 20 to 80 pounds of meat at one time and some grills provide different height cooking surfaces. Charcoal and wood burning grills are the least expensive and most space saving form of grilling. If you live in an apartment or have a small balcony, you can use a tabletop grill or a kettle-type grill. Most kettle grills are available in charcoal burning or propane styles, so if you want to avoid lighter fluid and matches, choose gas. Gas grills, which are commonly used in patio grilling, usually contain a tank located underneath the actual grilling area, or are connected to a gas stub. This easy-to-light style of grilling, although not the most affordable, is considered one of the easiest to use for the less experienced weekend chefs. Your decision to buy a particular size or type of grill can depend on how frequently you cook outdoors or where you live. In most cases, grills can range in price from around $20 (twenty dollars) up to $10,000 (ten thousand dollars). Indoor grilling is another option when choosing your grill. If you decide to use an indoor grill, proper ventilation is the most important thing to remember.
