You may be receiving conflicting advice on adoption from your friends and family or you may not have told anyone you're pregnant or considering adoption. In either case you need a person you can talk to privately and confidentially, someone that can give you accurate information about your options. Adoption agencies are a good place to start. At an adoption agency, you will meet with professionals in the field of adoption who can help you with your decision by explaining your options. Parents of adopted children, as well as the children themselves, are good testimonials to the fact that a child does not have to be related by blood to belong to a family. Most cities or counties also have readily available information about adoption through the government children's welfare agency. For more information, contact an adoption agency or adoption attorney.
