Infrared heaters are available in high-intensity or low-intensity models. High-intensity units use ceramic blocks that glow and radiate through a reflector. Low-intensity units use a tube fed by a power burner with a reflector around the tube. Units are usually mounted at angles to give the coverage desired, and should be hung at optimum heights specified by the manufacturer. Another version of infrared heaters are radiant heating panels, which have similar heating principles. These are usually electrically heated glass panels mounted in walls or ceilings. They are wired to the electrical system and are controlled by a thermostat. Once installed, they can provide trouble-free service for years. Contact your local appliance dealer for more specific information about infrared heaters.
