One way to update the look of your home is with new windows. Today's windows are not only beautiful, they operate easily and can increase the comfort of your home. Many manufacturers offer a wide variety of shapes and sizes as part of their standard collection. You may even find unusual styles such as bay windows as part of their regular stock. There are several ways a window can improve your home's comfort. Tinted glass can shield your rooms from the sun, and dual pane windows can help to insulate your home. Window frames are made of aluminum, vinyl or wood. Some high quality wood frames are covered in vinyl so they won't swell from being exposed to moisture. Many window frames can be painted to match your home. A properly installed window should open and shut smoothly. Because easy operation is so important for windows, most manufacturers recommend professional installation.
