Many companies provide free access to the Internet for their students and faculty. Users can often use a terminal in a computer lab or dial into the university's host system from their residences. Employees of corporations, the government, and other agencies may be connected directly or indirectly to the Internet if they have a local computer network. However, accounts are sometimes given only to those who actually need the Internet to support their normal job duties. Keep in mind that your university or employer may monitor your on-line activity, which can restrict any random Internet surfing. Some employers allow employees to dial into their company's host server from home, but again, on-line activity may be monitored and restricted. For more information, ask your company or school about access to the Internet.
