If you're a student, when it comes to computer activities, your basic routine is probably Internet researching, word processing, e-mail, or downloading the latest music in MP3 format. You're also likely to be concerned about finding a fairly inexpensive unit that will still accommodate your needs at a reasonable speed. And last but not least, you're probably interested in finding this inexpensive, basic system in portable format, so you can do your researching and composition in the vicinity of other resources, such as the library, the coffee shop, or the student union building. If you're looking for portable convenience at a budget price, then you might consider a mid-range notebook. The mid-range notebooks provide adequate performance at a modest asking price – they're affordable and versatile units with quality screens and satisfactory processing speeds. The standard mid-range portable includes a CD-ROM drive, as well as a modem for Internet access. These systems might be your ideal options, considering that the low-end portables usually carry inferior quality screens, which can result in eyestrain. The more enhanced models, while equipped with all the latest technology, might be beyond the typical student's price range. For more information, please consult a computer professional.
