Common courses include hair styling, skin care, and makeup artistry. A few schools may have specialty courses relating to beauty consultant work. The requirements for various cosmetology degrees are set by each state, and may range from 1,200 (twelve hundred) to 2,100 (twenty-one hundred) hours of instruction. Some states also require additional supervised training on the job. After graduation, the student may apply for a consultant position with a department store, drug store, or other employer.
