During your first week home after purchasing a pre-owned car, you may wish to start a program of care and maintenance for both the interior and exterior of the car. By starting this program, you may help protect your new investment. You can begin your maintenance with a complete vacuuming of the car's interior, and continue by using an automotive cleaning product on all vinyl, fabric, and carpet in the car. While inside the car, you can use an auto glass cleaner to clean the inside of the windshield, as well as the inside surfaces of all other windows. You may need to use a special type of cleaner if the windows are tinted. After finishing the interior of your car, progress to your car's exterior, and begin with a thorough cleaning of the wheels and tires. Then you're ready to wash, dry, and wax your vehicle's exterior finish. It may not be a good idea to use a household detergent to wash your vehicle, as even mild dishwashing or laundry soaps can strip away the wax and leave your paint dull and unprotected. After washing your car, take time to carefully check the ground underneath the motor for any drips or spots and have any leaks checked by a reputable mechanic.
