Choosing between leather and cloth interior can be difficult for many car buyers. Although cost is a big factor, there are a few other considerations involved. Genuine leather seats can cost several hundred dollars more than cloth, but the price may be worth the luxury. Soft and supple leather adjusts quickly to your skin temperature and fills the car with a distinctive aroma. For extraordinary comfort and craftsmanship, go with leather. However, leather does have some drawbacks. Leather car interiors must be carefully maintained as they age. Cleaners and conditioners should be applied on a constant basis. Leather contains millions of tiny pores, which absorb human perspiration and can lead to hardening, cracking, or shrinking. If properly maintained, leather seats can last as long as your car. On the other hand, cloth seats involve much less maintenance, as well as a lower cost. Although spills can stain cloth seats much easier than leather, regular cleaning isn't necessary. Some car dealers even offer special stain treatments on cloth seats to guard against spills. Also, the plush fabric rarely gets too hot or too cold and feels comfortable against the skin in most seasons. In the end, leather or cloth car interior becomes a matter of personal choice. For more information on car interiors, consult with an auto dealer.
