The keyless or remote entry feature has become an increasingly popular option for many car buyers. This feature consists of a small hand-held device that allows you to lock and unlock your car's doors and trunk from up to 30 feet away. It can also permit you to control several electrical devices by remote. For example, some keyless entry devices automatically turn on the car's interior lights when you unlock the driver's side door. More advanced devices will even allow you to start your car or turn on the air conditioning at a distance. Though popular for the convenience it provides for many drivers, the keyless remote entry system is mainly intended to help protect against theft and personal threat. With the push of a button, you can lock and unlock doors instantly in an emergency situation and significantly reduce the time it takes for you to get safely into your car. Many times, a remote entry device also contains a panic button you can push to activate a theft deterrent system. For instance, if an intruder is seen near your car, you can push the panic button to cause the lights to flash and the horn to honk while you're standing at a safe distance away. At the cost of a few hundred dollars, this feature can be a small but valuable investment towards the protection of both you and your car. For more information on keyless or remote entry systems, contact an auto dealer or a car buying professional.
