LONDON (AP) - An extensive police report with details of an investigation into child sex abuse allegations against the late BBC entertainer Jimmy Savile is set to be released.

The report will be made public Friday morning.

The police have been investigating allegations that Savile, who died in 2011 at age 84, was a serial sex abuser with hundreds of victims.

Police have said he appears to have been one of the most prolific sex abusers in British history.

No charges were ever brought against the BBC entertainer, who hosted several popular shows during his long career.

The BBC has faced heavy criticism for its coverage of the allegations against Savile.
