**Video from this morning's segment posted by noon.**

The Tri-State has such a killer music scene and we want to give local bands the opportunity to showcase upcoming shows and ways for fans to connect online in a brand new segment.

Each week we are going to spotlight a local band to give our viewers a taste of all the different music styles greater Cincinnati has at its finger tips.

The "Band of the Week" segment will cover ways you can follow local bands on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and fan sites.

Viewers will also learn where upcoming shows and appearances will take place and we may even invite your band here to the studio to perform live.

To be considered as a "Band of the Week", contact Katie Clavey via email at kclavey@local12.com, on Facebook or Twitter.

Genre: Glam rock, alternative rock, and pop-rock

The Cincinnati based six-piece is theatrical and oozes Rock and Roll, the Local 12 “Band of the Week” is Foxy Shazam.

Eric Sean Nally  vocals
Loren Daniel Turner  guitars
Daisy Caplan  bass
Schuyler Vaughn White- keyboards
Alex Nauth  horns/backing vocals
Aaron McVeigh  drums

The band’s name, Foxy Shazam, came from a saying in lead singer and founding member, Eric Nally's high school, meaning, "cool shoes." If you had cool shoes, kids would say those are “Foxy Shazam."

The band has been together since 2004 and was the spotlight band for the 2011 Vans Warped Tour and their single "Unstoppable" was featured in the Superbowl in 2010, as well as included on the Spin (magazine) list of "Ten Bands You Need To Know".

A quotation from lead singer Eric Sean Nally about the band's influence: "When I listen to a Foxy Shazam record I think of Evel Knievel; Bruce Springsteen; my childhood; Van Morrison; my old friends from high school I don't talk to anymore; Elton John; the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, and beyond; Iggy Pop; and my first kiss."

Foxy Shazam isn't concerned with what category they fall into, they just want to stand for their generation and become "The Biggest Band in the World."

Kelly and her band have worked really hard to get where they have gotten. They deserve and have earned their time to shine. Good Job Kelly!!! Wyatt will be proud.

I googled it right after commenting. Whirling dervishing isn't an instrument, it's a type of dancing.

Ricky Bobby - they call it a bass. The Sundresses play music they wrote, and the column really should feature original bands. Great music is made here so they have plenty of material for this feature: aside from major label bands like Afghan Whigs, Blessid Union of Souls, Walk the Moon and Foxy Shazaam, both Rolling Stone and Spin have spilled many stars on Wussy and Bad Veins. Seedy Seeds, Buffalo Killers, and The Sundresses represent the next wave. I can't think of any cover bands that have been invited to SXSW 4 times like the Sundresses or Wussy. They tour constantly, and have pioneered industry-shaking ideas like "living records" that grow ("Sundresses OFF" adds fresh music and video constantly - early buyers get the most stuff, unlike reissues where the laggards get the rewards) without the need for a label. It's a great time for music fans in Cincy.

What the heck kind of an instrument is a whirling dervishing? That sounds made up.

They should have ChasingBlue on here. One of the lead singers is a home town kid. He graduated from SCPA high school and went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. They are a great band...check them out on you tube, facebook and they have their own website...

They'll be highlighting friends of friends until they run out, then the segment will go away.

They are probably talking about bands with original music. If not, then they should also have The Rusty's and Naked Karate Girls.
