Procedure:
-Peel the hardboiled egg
-Ignite a small piece of newspaper and drop it in the jar
-Place the egg on the jar with the small end first
-Wait until the egg is pushed into the jar
Explanation
As the air was heated, it began to expand. Some of the air escaped causing the egg to wobble. The flames went out and the air began to cool and contract. The egg sealed the jar opening. In essence, air pressure inside the jar dropped below that of air pressure outside the jar. Air on the outside forced the egg into the jar thus equalizing the air pressure inside and out.
