The Brown County Sheriff is warning residents about a mail scam.

Residents in Ripley are receiving letters postmarked from Texas.

It asks them to send dollar bills to people and make 200 copies of the letter to send out, forcing you to buy stamps.

In the end, the people who do the work are supposed to get $800,000 in cash.

The company mentioned in the letter is called "Dataline".

the victim is expected to buy a mailing list of 200 addresses from the company Dataline, AND envelopes and stamps through that company. If anyone wants the whole story it's in the Ledger Independent. http://www.maysville-online.com/news/local/c83a3ff0-8ec6-55d5-8452-fa64ad48c3f3.html

Besides, it is ILLEGAL to send cash through the mail (the Post Office). I suppose they look the other way during May and June (graduation and weddings) or in/on anything that looks like a card....

forcing you to buy stamps? Is it a post office scam? Why is buying stamps to mail things a part of this story? If you're dumb enough to fall for a chain letter, the least you can do is buy stamps to send out your letters. The rest of us have to do so. what do stamps, mentioned or pictured, have to do with the story?

You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

Snafu, your greed has done you in. I would have gladly paid you $19.99 for your information but you just had to have that extra penny! Marketing is everything! Good day, Snafu. (Or should I call you Barney Fife or Clark Griswold or The Riddler?) ‘8^)

There's no proof this is a scam. But, if everybody here sends me $20 then I can prove it.
