21-year old Steven Conover was from Wilmington and graduated from Laurel Oaks.
Conover was serving in the Army. He was killed on November 2, 2004, when the helicopter he was riding on came under a missile attack near Fallujah. The chopper was beginning the first leg of a journey back to the U.S. with soldiers scheduled to go on leave.
Conover was married just one year and he attended the Wilmington Church of God.
