22 year old Sergeant Phillip McNeill died on January 20, 2007 when his Humvee was hit by a bomb in the Al-Anbar province of Iraq. McNeill grew up in Kenwood but later moved to Tennesee with his father. McNeill's mother lives in Union Township, Clermont County and his stepfather works for the Sheriff's Department there.

McNeill volunteered for a second tour of duty in Iraq several months before his death. His decision to go back stemmed from his deep-rooted patriotism and family tradition.
