37 year old Sergeant Charles Kiser died in June 24, 2004, when he was hit by shrapnel from a car bomb that exploded near his convoy. The attack happened in Iraq, near the northern city of Mosul.
Kiser grew up in Amelia and graduated from McNicholas High School. He served in the 330th Military Police Division based in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Kiser's wife and 2 children lived there but his five sisters and mother lived in the Tri-State at the time of his death.
Kiser's father was a Korean war veteran. He was scheduled to come home for 2 weeks rest when he was killed. He is buried in Wisconsin. To read more about Kiser's life, click here.
