22 year old Lance Corporal Timothy Michael Bell of West Chester died on August 3, 2005,  when a roadside bomb hit the amphibious assault vehicle he was riding in.  Bell was one of 14 Marines from the Ohio-based 3rd Battalion 25th Marines killed in the attack.  5 men from the Tri-State died that day.

Bell came from a baseball family; his uncle was Kansas City Royals manager Buddy bell.  His cousin David played for the Philadelphia Phillies at the time of his death and his grandfather, Gus Bell, was a Reds outfielder from 1953 to 1961.

Bell's family said he expressed a desire to become a Marine at the age of 6.  In Iraq, Bell was a sniper who was often the first to rush into buildings.

Bell is buried at
Arlington National Cemetery.
