25 year old Marine Lance Corporal Michael Cifuentes of Fairfield died August 3, 2005 in a roadside bombing near Haditha, Iraq. Cifuentes was one of 14 Marines from the Ohio-based 3rd Battalion 25th Marines killed in the attack. 5 men from the Tri-State died that day.
A graduate of Saint Xavier High School in Cincinnati and a 2002 graduate of Miami University, Cifuentes enrolled in the university¹s Integrated Mathematics Master's degree program before his unit was activated.
He was engaged to be married.
He is buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
