20 year old LCpl. Luke Scott of Peebles died in Afghanistan on December 3, 2010 on while on patrol.
Scott had just celebrated this birthday four days before his death and was scheduled to Adams County for a brief leave on January 17th. He'd also been hit by shrapnel a few days before his death but after a short recovery, Scott had insisted on being back out with his unit.
Scott received his diploma from Peebles High School in 2009, where he ran track and cross country and played soccer. He spent his last two years of high school attending Adams County Career and Technical Center. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Those who knew Scott say he always dreamed of becoming a Marine.
