21 year old Corporal Tyler Warndorf of Burlington was killed by a suicide bomber on August 29, 2006 in the Al-Anbar Province of Iraq.
Warndorf graduated from Conner High School in 2003 in Hebron. He was apparently carrying water to a medical center when a suicide car bomber crashed through the gates and blew up his car.
He was on his third tour of duty.. His second in Iraq. Warndorf was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.
