35 year old Captain Tyler Swisher of Mariemont died on October 21, 2005 when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by a roadside bomb near Al Amariyah, Iraq.

Swisher had been in the Marine Corps for 12 years and was a company commander in the second battalion, second Marine Regiment from Camp Lejueune, North Carolina. He was on his third tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed.

Swisher was a 1988 graduate of Mariemont High School and Butler University. He left behind a wife, 2 daughters and a son.

Swisher is buried at Arlington National Cemetary.
