42 year old Sergeant First Class Gregory Rogers of Deer Park died on April 9, 2006, when an improvised device detonated near his Humbee in Ramadi, Iraq.

Sergeant Rogers was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, KY. He was born in Mariemont and has family in the Mason and West Chester areas. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1984. Rogers was a career soldier with 22 years of experience. He earned the Army Achievement Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. He serviced in the first Gulf War and was on his 3rd tour of duty in Iraq when he died.

Rogers left behind 2 daughters.
