A southwest Ohio native has been killed in an attack by insurgents in Iraq.
The military says 24-year-old Army First Lieutenant Jonathan Edds died in Baghdad Friday when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.
Edds was born in Hamilton. He went to high school in White Pigeon, Michigan, and followed both his brothers to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Edds was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division based at Fort Benning, Georgia. That's where he lived with Laura, his wife of about two years.
Local 12 salutes Jonathon Edds and 38 other local troops who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.
