"This was not a luxury issue like building stadiums or things that commissioners in the past focused on. It deals with our public safety problem."

"The good news now is we know now what the mandate is and where the voters are and it's time for all of us to start working on solutions."

The most contentious issue on the local ballot this fall was Issue 27, the Comprehensive Justice, or jail plan which went down to a decisive 56 to 44 percent defeat.

That has left Hamilton County with a financial and budgetary crisis that reaches into every aspect of the county budget, including endangering its critical bond rating.

Since the election, county elected officials and administrators have been grappling with their options.

To talk about the choices facing the county, I am joined now by Hamilton County Commissioner David Pepper.

If you would like to add your voice to this discussion, there are two public meetings coming up.

One on November 26th at 6 p.m. in Green Township at the Nathaniel Greene Lodge and one on November 27th at 6 p.m. at the County Administration building downtown.
