If this is propaganda to influence young minds, then we need more of this kind of propaganda and less about the latest Hollywood and political scandals. Thanks to ALL who put their lives on the line to protect us: soldiers, sailors, police, firefighters, etc.

The school did notify all the local news channels so that a.) the community would know about the sacrifice of the Vinsons, b.) so everyone could rejoice in the reunion of a father and his children, c.) because the children pray everyday for Mr. Vinson and send him pictures, cards, and care packages (my children included), d.) the Vinsons would have a recording of this precious moment in time and e.) we NEED stories like this-desperately. This story was so-loved, it's been picked up NATIONALLY. This is reality tv at it's finest. It's incredible and a relief to see someone fully clothed, articulate, and faithful to his family and country arrive home ALIVE and reunited with the children who love him most. It's incredible to see students lift up and admire men who serve and support and love the families left behind. My questions is, why WOULDN'T this be on every news outlet in the world?! The Vinson Family rocks!

Granny, the story says he IS a helicopter pilot, he IS on leave, and he DID surprise his sons. Nowhere does the story say he flew his helicopter to the school to surprise his sons.

I actually cried when I saw this story on the news last night. The excitement on those little boys faces said it all! Wish our world was such that we could have stories like this on the news every day. Unfortunately these are not the type of stories that sell news. To Granny - the reason that Officer Vincent went to the children's school was not only to see his boys, but to personally thank the other students for their letters and cards and such.

One of the best stories reported on yesterday, and we still get people spewing hate.

Granny - What story are you reading that says he flew the helicopter there? Sorry that the news reported something other than murder, rape, arson, robbery and put something else on the news. The story says that he has been planning this for more than a month..it is hard telling how the news got wind of it but I am going to guess the school called.
