A lesson in kindness and generosity today from students at Lincoln Heights elementary school.
When flooding rains hit Georgia a couple of months ago, the Clarkdale Elementary School in Cobb County was virtually wiped out. Students at Lincoln Heights Elementary heard about their troubles, and wanted to do something to help.
They raised money for gift cards to replace school supplies and today the gift cards and letters from the students were presented to Clarkdale students and staff in Georgia.
Brenda Miller is the principal at Lincoln Heights: "We have a staff member who has a family member in Cobb County and so when we learned of the devastation and flooding we were eager to help. One of the things that people know about our community is we have a lot of needs as well but the fact that the children could give back, in ways that will make a difference for the children of Clarkdale was what we were looking for."
Students and staff at Lincoln Heights got to watch the presentation and meet some of the Clarkdale students face to face by using a Skype transmission.
We'll have more on this very generous project coming up on Local 12 News at 5:30 p.m.
