Study Shows Brain is More Active in Weight Gainers

Losing those last ten pounds might have to do with what's happening in your brain, according to a new report.

Local 12's Liz Bonis explains in today's Health Alert.

If you are having trouble losing those last ten pounds, it might have to do with the parents you picked, meaning it's in your genes or what genetically influences your brain.

Researchers in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently published a study which shows this.

We stopped out at the University of Cincinnati to explain.

Researchers in this trial scanned the brains of those who lost weight and kept it off, and compared it to those who lost weight and gained it back. They found the successful maintainers, when showed images of food during a brain scan, did not have the brain react as much as those who gained the weight back. In other words, they weren't driven to eat as much.

Now, what this research showed is that even if you have the active brain, you can overcome it, you just have to pay very close attention to the amount of food you eat. It might not be as easy for you, but it's still possible to drop the last ten pounds.
