Low Fat Gives Better Mood Than Low Carb

You can lose weight by going on a diet, but apparently the diet you choose could seriously influence your mood!
 
Local 12's Liz Bonis explains in today's Health Alert.

If you've ever tried to lose weight, you likely know you can lose weight by cutting back on fat, or on carbohydrates. But this study found the difference could be in your moods.
 
In the Archives of Internal Medicine, researchers followed those who were on both these diets for at least three months. They found both low carb and low fat help you drop pounds. However, those on the low fat diet appeared to be in better moods before, during and even after dieting. This is likely all do to levels of seritonin in the brain. That's the body's "feel good" hormone, so to speak.
 
It's natural for all of us to sort of crave carbohydrates. In this case, if that's the diet you want to follow, others may also be glad you did, especially those close to you who notice moods.
