Masks made by children in the Tri-State for the Ghoulish Gala. They were auctioned off at the gala to help other kids. Local 12's Liz Bonis explains how.
"The school children in Northern Kentucky have been asked to make masks, they will be auctioned live at the gala, each is unique, like the kids who made them."
Carol Buckhout says people were able to attend the Ghoulish Gala and see more of these masks plus a whole lot more at the Dree's Pavilion at Devou Park. "Fire works, a parade of wonderful costumes, great fireworks, dancing, the band is called A Strange Brew."
The gala supports The Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky. It works with organizations who assist children who've been physically or sexually abused.
One of the amazing things about this organization is the way they work with families and children, say for example a child comes in to a doctors office, and eventually they find out that there's been physical emotional or sexual abuse, they are then able to hook them up with what they call a Multi-Disciplinary Medical Team.
"The staff pulls together a team with a family advocate, social work, counselors, physicians, law enforcements, and prosecutors to address the needs of the family or needs of the child... It really is the only service of it's kind in the eight county area of Northern Kentucky."
