CINCINNATI (AP) - Reds third baseman Scott Rolen has gone back on the 15-day disabled list because of a problem with his left shoulder, which had surgery last year.

The 37-year-old infielder has struggled at the plate, batting only .174 with two homers and 11 RBIs. He was examined by a doctor Saturday and went on the DL with a strained shoulder, which has been a chronic problem. He played in only 65 games last season because of the shoulder, having surgery Aug. 3.

Rolen is in the final year of his contract and has acknowledged he's unsure if it will be his last in baseball.

Cincinnati called up third baseman Mike Costanzo before the second game of a series against the Washington Nationals.
