MACON, Ga. – Northern Kentucky University’s Tyler White has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference co-Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
White, a freshman guard, netted a career-high 18 points against Lipscomb last Friday to lead NKU to a 67-53 victory. Since entering the starting lineup two weeks ago, he has averaged 10.5 points per game. The Lima, Ohio, native knocked down four 3-pointers against Lipscomb and averages 7.0 points per contest going into Thursday’s game at Stetson. White is No. 2 in the A-Sun in 3-point shooting at 41.0 percent.
White shared this week’s award with Jacksonville’s Jarvis Haywood. This marks the first time an NKU men’s basketball player has won the A-Sun weekly award. The Norse are in their inaugural season of Division I competition.
In addition, Kennesaw State's Markeith Cummings was named the A-Sun Player of the Week on Tuesday.
