MACON, Ga. – Northern Kentucky University’s Eshaunte Jones has been selected as the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Player of the Week, the league office announced Sunday night.
Jones, a 6-foot-4 senior guard from Fort Wayne, Ind., averaged 19.5 points per game last week as Northern Kentucky defeatedNorth Florida and Jacksonville. He scored a career-high 30 points Thursday night to lead the Norse to a 72-45 win over North Florida. In that game, Jones also netted his 1,000th career point and was 10-for-15 from the field with six 3-pointers.
On Saturday night, Jones helped Northern Kentucky wipe out a 13-point deficit in the final 2:36 of the game as the Norse rallied for a 66-62 victory. He finished with nine points, three rebounds and two steals in that victory.
Jones now has 1,009 career points in his collegiate career, which began at Nebraska. He averages 15.8 points per game and has made 80 shots from 3-point range this season.
This is the second time Jones has earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honor.
