OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University has secured a multi-game agreement with Marshall University to play home-and-home football games, Director of Athletics Brad Bates announced today (Nov. 4).
The series with Marshall is a two-year deal that will feature games in Huntington, West Virginia in 2013 and at Yager Stadium in 2014. The RedHawks and the Thundering Herd have not previously met on the gridiron since 2004. Miami holds a 30-10-1 edge in the series between the two schools.
“We look forward to renewing an old rivalry that encompasses conference and non-conference contests and provides our students, alumni and fans with another exciting home-home series,” said Bates. “The regional proximity of Marshall is consistent with our cost reduction strategy for scheduling opponents. Our history with the Thundering Herd has showcased some memorable games with students who continue to excel in the NFL.”
