LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio State Racing Commission wants owners of a new racino in southwest Ohio to consider building a bigger grandstand for harness racing.

The commission on Thursday told the developers of the track in Lebanon that a 700-seat grandstand is too small. The track will also feature 1,800 slots-like video terminals.

The Dayton Daily News  reports that racing commission chairman Robert Schmitz said "horse racing is what brings people to the dance" and the commission wants to continue to promote it.

Amanda Wurst, a spokeswoman for the track owners, Miami Valley Gaming, said the 700 seats in the grandstand - plus space to temporarily accommodate more guests - is sufficient.

The racino, one of several in the works in Ohio, is expected to open in early 2014.
