My bracket on Tom Raper RV's Beat the Pros Challenge survives day one! The only early game I lost was Wichita State over Pitt. Those two teams went 3-37 from behind the arc, which is the worst 3-point shooting performance in NCAA Tourney history. Marquette's last-second comeback saved my sheet. I've got Buzz Williams' boys in the Sweet 16. I called the 12-seed Oregon upset of 5th seeded Oklahoma State, and picked 12th-seeded Cal over 5-seed UNLV. So it was a good first day on the Johansen bracket. I have Louisville as my eventual champ and the Cardinals looked the part by destroying North Carolina A&T in the opener. How'd you fare?
The Bengals finally went outside the organization to sign a free agent. Josh Johnson is expected to sign a 2-year deal Friday to be Andy Dalton's backup. He's a 5-year veteran who didn't play last year for the Browns. He's familiar with Jay Gruden as both were in Tampa together. Problem is, Josh has started only 5 games... with a total of 5 TD's, and 10 INT's. You OK with the Bengals choice? Tweet me @bradjohansen with your thoughts. Let's "talk" about it.
Multiple reports that the decision has been made to let Aroldis Chapman leave the starting rotation and return to his closer role. So far this spring Chapman has a 2.25 ERA as a starter but has used only two pitches: fastball and slider. He's made it known that he wants to go back to the pen. Dusty Baker wants him back in the pen. Walt Jocketty can't be happy about the developments after giving Jonathan Broxton $21 million over the next three years to finish games. My guess is Broxton isn't real thrilled about the developments either. We've asked you plenty of times in the offseason... where would you like the Cuban missile?
