CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the 2012-13 Associated Press preseason poll released Friday. It marks the second consecutive season the Bearcats are ranked in the preseason poll. Last season, UC was listed at No. 21 entering the year.
The Bearcats received votes in the 2012-13 USA Today/ESPN coaches’ preseason poll released last week but were not listed among the Top 25.
Four teams on UC’s schedule this season also were listed in the AP preseason rankings: No. 2 Louisville, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 18 UNLV (potential opponent in the Global Sports Challenge in Las Vegas) and No. 22 Notre Dame. The Bearcats will play four other teams that garnered votes in the preseason poll: Pittsburgh, Marquette, Georgetown and New Mexico.
UC plays host to Grand Valley State in the Bearcats’ first exhibition game of the new season Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
