A man injured in a shooting which left his cousin dead has now also died.  The Hamilton County coroner on Wednesday confirmed the death of Bart Gertz.

Bart and his cousins Mike Gertz were shot on September 28 in a Lockland apartment. Mike Gertz died at the scene.  Bart has been hospitalized since the shooting.

Days after the attack, police arrested 25 year-old Joshua Lee in Price Hill. He is now at the Hamilton County Justice Center on charges including aggravated murder, felonious assault and aggravated robbery. His bail was set at $1.2 million.

Prosecutors will now decide whether to update the charges against Lee.

Lockland Police say the violence was drug-related. Police Lieutenant Terry Wilkerson said that Lee sold heroin and had sold it to Mike Gertz in the past. He also said that Lee lived in an apartment behind the building where Gertz lived.

Lee also has ties to Illinois, where he has an extensive criminal history. He is suspected of being a member of a Chicago gang.

Motherof2 - Yes we ALL make mistakes but not all of us make them repeatedly and even make a lifestyle out of our "mistakes" by hurting many innocent people, INCLUDING their own mothers/fathers, sons/daughters, etc.

WOW, what is wrong with some people!!! Don’t you get that these 2 men are fathers, sons and grandsons. We need to think of the children, parents and grandparents. Also for anyone who has never made a mistake or taken the wrong path, please feel free to say whatever you need to say but frankly didn’t your mother teach you “If you don’t have anything nice to say DON’T say anything at all”.

They are trying "that crap" in many places. Even Covington, Madisonville and Colerain and Springfield townships are experiencing more of "that crap" all the time.

I wasn't saying 8 days is a long time. I am saying they did not give any detail on how they found this guy. Last I heard it was some anonymous person and these two guys were lockloo's gift from god. I seems like most murders don't get solved at all (admit I may be off on the exact percentage but my instincts say I have heard half, so maybe 50% get solved). So did they guy just feel guilt after 8 days and come to town to turn himself in? I doubt it, but how did they come up with this guys name? I can guess now. He was probably seen with these guys before and then when they backtraked the guy they found out he was in the area at the time of the shooting. Maybe they found hid fingerprints in the apartment. Maybe someone saw the gangster drug dealer from chitcago and reported it after the fact. I was just curious. HOWEVER, I MUST SAY, I am so glad they got this cold blooded murdereer off the streets and hopefully he will get his needle as soon as possible. I am sure this will be of some comfort to the family. BTW, is the woulded brother or cousin was it maybe, recovering or did he not make it? Maybe he survived and was the one who provided this gangwangers name. I am sorry for them. Personally I lose no emotion over a drug user, or seller or grower or etc. meeting his maker and being told he will be taking the stairs marked down.

Could we maybe get him a bath and a hair cut before we get rid of him. It would be a shame for him to meet his maker looking like that. Drugs involved? Of course. The Gertz folks should have know better. And to whomever -- yes there was some days between the killings and the finding of the killer. Lockland police cannot come to Cincinnati and search. Lockland is the only place they can search. Cincinnati searched and found. Good job. Lockland police can only do so much with what they have.
