A Greensburg, Indiana mother admits her guilt in the beating death of her 12 year old son last summer. Now 30 year old Tasha Parsons could spend 60 years in prison.
Prosecutors tell Local 12 that Parsons entered a guilty plea this week to a count of murder in the death of Devin. As part of the plea agreement, a charge of neglect of a dependent was dismissed.
Devin's body was found inside his home on East Washington Street in Greensburg, Indiana on June 3, 2011.
Police say the boy stole pills from his mother and wouldn't tell her where he hid them. She then beat him with her hands, a belt, and a metal tray over the course of several hours.
Her boyfriend, 31 year old Waldo Jones, is also charged with murder and neglect. His trial is set for October.
Jones' sister, Bobby Gilland, says she was concerned the children in the home were in danger, and alerted authorities.
Jones does have a criminal past. The Indiana Department of Corrections lists Jones as being released from prison in July of 2010. He had been sentenced in late 2009 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, while having a prior OWI conviction on his record.
