The Erlanger and Elsmere police departments work together to get a suspected drug dealer off the streets.
For a two month period investigators conducted surveillance on 25 May Street in Elsmere. The surveillance operation, along with a search warrant allowed investigators to put David Losey behind bars charged with cultivation of marijuana more than five pounds, trafficking in marijuana more than five pounds, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators say Losey had an indoor marijuana grow operation located in the attic of his home. The search warrant found 11 marijuana plants,, grow lights, fans and extension cords.
Lieutenant Kevin Gilpin with the Erlanger Police Department says Losey's line of work gave him access to the materials needed for the grow operation. An investigator says apartments on nearby Moosewood have also been hit. "He was a landscaper... being a landscaper... had knowledge of how to make things grow and what he needed to do and so forth." Police say during the investigation Duke Energy bills showed Losey's utility bills doubled over the past year compared to the usage from his neighbors. Investigators say that sometimes indicates an indoor grow operation due to increase environmental controls, and growth lights.
