Crooks are now stealing propellers from boats for the salvage value. The boats were stored at Boatsmith Marine on Kellogg Avenue. Both of the propellers are stainless steal. One of the victims tells you can buy a special nut which makes the propeller harder to remove. He did not own one at the time of the theft, but does now and if you own a boat it might be something you should think about. If you have any information that may help investigators call Crimestoppers at 352-3040. You don't have to give your name and could get cash for clues.

An alert neighbor leads police to a teenage burglary suspect. The Hanover Township resident called police to report a possible burglary yesterday morning. A deputy called to the 2100 block of Stahlheber Road saw a 17-year-old walking down railroad tracks. That boy is charged with burglary. A second suspect, 26-year-old Justin McIntosh is charged with complicity to burglary and receiving stolen property. Electronics stolen from the home on Stahlheber were found in the garage at the McIntosh residence.

Gas drive offs now total hundreds of millions of dollars. When someone pumps gas and doesn't pay it costs all of us. A UDF in Milford got ripped off at least four times in one week recently. An Association for Gas Retailers reports those rip offs result in even higher gas prices for you. If you're thinking about stealing gasoline, remember most gas stations, including UDF's are taking your picture. If you are caught stealing gas the state will take away your drivers license in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

imfedup - 7/6/2009 11:50 AM - the Milford police can barely find thier way to the donut shop, so I would not hold out hope for finding the criminals.

of course they are going to take propellers... it would not be a clean get-a-way if they were not made to steal... just like it said in the story - "Both of the propellers are stainless steal".

The Chamber Drive location in Milford is the perfect spot to fill it up and get on the interstate quickly. The only way they are going to keep from getting ripped off is to pay before you pump or pay at the pump. I know it is an inconvenience for some, but it is the only way they are going to keep this problem from happening.

My parents were also robbed of a GPS system and a Camera out of their car in Milford. Miami Township police department was called because a cd case was stolen and then retrieved by the owner..who called the police..caught the boy who took it...and the police did nothing! we need police officers who are actually going to serve justice...and not just slap them on the hands! obviously neighborhood watch isnt cutting it anymore!

I'm certainly not condoning theft, but thief IS one of the world's oldest "professions". Years ago I used to work at a UDF, and I don't know about how busy the one from this article is, but it's quite difficult to keep an eye on the pumps and serve customers and even if you see someone drive off w/o paying, there's not a lot that could be done when you can't usually see the license plate. Calling the police does little unless they drive a unique car and there happened to be a cruiser VERY nearby. I feel sorry for the clerks though, sometimes managers think that they pocket the gas money to steal it instead of ringing up the sale. "Sometimes" they do. If you're paying cash, make sure the amount isn't just on the register but that the sale is completed. There's more than one kind of gas theft.

The Milford Police need to concentrate less on traffic revenue and more on criminal activity. They are more worried about people going 5mph over the speed limit rather than criminals steeling our property. I live in the subdivision behind the police station and it is very rare to see a police car, police bike or segway during the day or late night. Although it is not uncommon to see police cars watching traffic on the main roads and even sitting for hours watching the parking lots of the areas bars. The police need to step up on patrols in the subdivisions where people are stealing our belongings.

This post is for the story on the neighborhood in Northside. There is no blog there, I'm guessing because someone had something derogetory to say. In any event, I'd light to congratulate the residents of Northside for fighting back and taking back their neighborhood. Good for you. You're not standing for crime and it's working. Little by little you'll get your neighborhood back to where it should be. Other communities should stand up and take notice. Don't roll over and play dead, fight back! And when I say fight back, I don't mean literally fight, I mean do something proactive like the residents of Northside, you'd be surprised how quickly things will turn around!
