Yeah over time anythig can deteriorate but I think if you have a 4 year old vehicle it should still be in pretty darn good shape hence the reason for a recall at least that's what I think

All power steering hoses can deteriorate over time, lose fluid, and cause loss of the power assist. This is a strange recall.
