Two people are injured following a serious car accident Sunday morning in Anderson Township.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday emergency crews were called to I-275 EB at U.S. 52 for a report of a car that had gone off the highway and into the woods.

An adult had to be transported via Air Care to University Hospital after being trapped in his pick-up truck for close to an hour.

A child was also transported to Children's Hospital shortly after the accident.

I-275 EB had to be shut down for close to 40 minutes so Air Care could land and transport the patient.

AirCare is a mobile ICU. I believe it carries at least one doctor and a critical care nurse. EMT's do the best that they can with their equipment and training...but AirCare has far more resources for life-saving situations.

Prayers to those involved. I can't help but wonder, if it took the helicopter 40 minutes to land and load the patient and take off, then you figure time to get to the hospital, wouldn't an ambulance have been faster?
