Happy Earth Day folks! There are some fun things going on around town over the next few days to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. (Even if you’re not into celebrating Earth Day, these are still fun events!) Here are just a few:
The Cincinnati Zoo is hosting a special Party for the Planet Earth Day celebration through this weekend. Tonight, April 22, you’ll find a FREE concert from 6-8:30pm by the Faux Frenchmen and the Psychodots as well as Eco-friendly vendors. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of activities over the weekend, including: tours of the new Go Green Garden OPENING April 23, tours of the Zoo’s LEED certified projects, animal demonstrations, and eco-friendly kids’ crafts. And all weekend long (through April 25) if you bring an old cell phone to recycle you’ll receive a discount on admission. ($2 off Adult, $1 off child).

The Cincinnati Flower Show runs through this weekend and this weekend you can bring the kids for Small Wonders Weekend (April 23-25) for a unique learning experience and great family fun. Filled with hands-on activities and special exhibits, children learn about the natural world while having fun.

On Saturday, Marvin’s Organic Gardens is hosting a fun and exciting “thinkGREEN” Earth Day event featuring green vendors who will have everything from home and garden ideas to organic food, transportation options and more. There will be guest speakers and informative lectures and they will also have live music and food and drink booths all day as well. Great place and sounds like a fun event. On Sunday, the very earth friendly neighborhood of Northside is holding the second annual Northside Reduce, Recycle, RUN! 5K Run, Cycle, Walk! Registration begins 8 a.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery and all ages are welcome. There will be earth friendly vendors as well.
