So the Bengals preseason starts Thursday in Atlanta. Who's excited? One of the guys from engineering walked into the office and asked, "So, do you think the Titans or Colts games will sellout?" I looked at him with incredulity. SELLOUT?! Even in places where season ticket holders are locked in before the season, it's never sold out. It's fake football. I know, I know, football's back and I'm excited about that. But I can't get excited about preseason. And fans can't either. I'm calling the next three preseason games on Local 12, and I can't get excited. I'm worried. With the amount of season-ending injuries already in camp, the idea of four more fake football games, means providing a playground for potential disaster. Coaches know it. They have to get guys sharp. But at what cost? I'm in favor of two preseason games... three max. I don't necessarily need two more regular season games to offset the loss of the fake ones. But, it's still all about the money. Teams need (or say they need) 20 games with paying customers at the same price for the fake games as for the real games. People pay for the fake games and still don't go. Football good. Fake football bad. Cut the schedule, cut the price, cut the crap. I'll still be watching, and I'll be whining. Let's get to the good stuff.
